Premier league referee Mark Clattenburg made his comeback to duties today after being cleared of racially abusing John Obi Mikel. The 37 year old was the fourth official in the match between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham at White Hart Lane today, his will also be in action when he takes charge of affairs in the game between Southampton and Norwich City on Wednesday next week.
The Referee’s union has called for Chelsea to issue Clattenburg an apology. Alex Ferguson has said he was pleased Clattenburg was cleared and criticized Chelsea for making the allegations initially. His view was also shared by Aston Villa manager who says “Was it right to go public on the issue? I would say no. Anything like that should be handled behind closed doors”.
Well, I can personally relate with Chelsea, two red cards in a single game, one of which could have been avoided is a hard blow to take, but racism allegations are like red stains on white cloths; they never come off. SPOTIKS welcomes Mark Clattenburg and wish him a season without tunnel rifts with players and investigated allegations from clubs.
