United Nation's ambassador for peace, FRS Celebrity Marshal,Celebrity 3rd runner-up in 2012 Big Brother Africa Star game and multiple award winning Pop Artist aka Drop dead Gorgeous Sexy Diva. GOLDIE HARVEY is our Celebrity guest for Spotiks this week. Spotiks Had an Upclose and Personal interview with her, and here is what the diva had to say about herself , her lifestyle, her ideal man and her Music.
1. What's your Real Name and where are you from?
My real names are Harvey Oluwabimpe Susan and I come from Ikole in ekiti state.
2. How did u come about the name Goldie?
The name Goldie was a nickname given to me by my mates in the United Kingdom partly because of my love for gold jewellery and my hair colour which is a reddish brown but turns gold at the tips when its hit by sunlight. I decided to stick to Goldie as a stage name because I wanted my brand to imbibe all the qualities Gold has to offer and more.
3. How would you describe your life as a star?
I feel blessed to be able to do what I love doing and to be loved and appreciated for it. I feel blessed too that by virtue of my popularity, I am able to impact people's lives positively and help change my environment for the better.
4. What is the story behind the lashes, it has come to be associated with you?
I've always loved the over elaborate; the drama and flamboyance that comes with entertainment. Long lashes make a dramatic statement, yet they also shield my eyes from prying gazes more like shades without the UV protection. It works like a dream.
5. Best artists you ever worked with?
Wow... I like every artiste i have worked with, I've liked but the most memorable artistes so far are Navio from Uganda on my Miliki track, Jaywon on my Jawo track, Eldee the Don on my You Know it track.
6. How would you describe life in the BBA house?
Life in BBa was very crazy! I mean it was like living in a boarding house with all these people who wanted to get you expelled for no reason. I came to realise that not everyone who smiles at you is your ally, and not everything is always the way it seems.
7. If you could go back to the BBA house, what will you undo or change?
I would have more fun! Definitely, and I wouldn't be so trusting anymore. I would play the GAME.
8. Are you dating prezo?
I plead the fifth amendment... *laughs*
9. Which Nigerian artistes are you looking forward to working with?
I would like to see myself and D'banj in a music video together. I think that would be pretty cool.
10. With your daring sense of fashion, have you ever had a wardrobe malfunction and when?
Oh! My outfits are always well put together... Trust me! I'm more likely to get wardrobe malfunctions wearing regular clothes than my costumed outfits.
11. Craziest thing you've ever done?
In my head I've done all the craziest things you can ever imagine. What is life without imagination? So I let my mind run wild and free. In real life though, I'm very guarded and careful because crazy could mean the difference between sickness and health, between poverty and wealth, life and death.
12. You have a bond with kids where-ever you go, which is very rare among other stars; What's the connection between you and kids? I've noticed it too, kids seem to gravitate towards me. I love it and I thank God for it. It probably means I have a nurturing, caring spirit and some kids can sense this and feel the need to get close.
13. Tell us about your 3 naughty singles and how fans are reacting to it?
The 3 naughty singles are the 1st of my releases in the Africa Invasion Album project. A personal initiative after living in the BBA house and listening to a wide range of African Music that got me very inspired. The 3 singles are titled, Miliki with Navio from Uganda, Skibobo with AY from Tanzania and Give it To Me with our very own Jmartins here in Nigeria. The 3 singles are doing so well, much more than I imagined. Miliki and Skibobo are club favourites in Uganda and Tanzania respectively, while Give it To Me is a song people like for its cheeky lyrical content. Skibobo video is out now and the response so far has been positively amazing. We thank God.
14. What is the inspiration behind that song SKIBOBO, because it seems to be everyone's favourite song in your naughty singles?
Skibobo is a song that's meant to be celebratory. Every day above ground is a blessing and we must be thankful for that and live life, have fun while we can. The Skibobo dance routine is a unique playful dance type thought up by myself, Jerry (one of my choreographers) and Denrele edun. Its fun and naughty. *laughs*
15. Most Embarrassing moment?
I don't dwell on embarrassments; we live to learn, we learn to live. There's was an incident I remember; I was leaving Abuja for Lagos and the slit in the back of my blue dress split and rode up almost to my bum. Now, that was embarrassing.
16. Your ideal kind of Man
Someone who is calm, caring, giving and considerate, he also should be humble and intelligent. He must have a good sense of style, must be clean, speak well and with intelligence, he must have a good sense of humour and lastly he must be God fearing.
17. In an interview with FlytimeTv, Denrele Edun said "Goldie is a wife material" and we know you are close friends with him and understand each other very well; can Denrele be seen as ur ideal kind of Man?
Denrele is one of the best human beings I've come across in a long while; he is selfless, kind, infact he has all the qualities I described up there that I'd like in an ideal man apart from the calm though, He's so not calm. I mean he literally wakes up screaming every morning. *laughs* I love him to death though, bless his heart.
18. How would you rate the Nigerian music industry in relation to the foreign industry?
We are there! I mean we are right there! All we need now is a proper structure to be put in place to ensure artistes get their dues (in terms of royalties) whether they perform constantly or not. I am blessed to be among this generation of African artistes.
19. Message to your fans; what have u got for them 2013?
