Spotiks welcomes our dear readers to the first edition of our weekly celebrity interview section. For this special occasion we got the gorgeous, humble and delectable Ghanian Actress Juliet Ibrahim to do us the honour of the first Spotiks celebrity interview. SPOTIKS: What Are Your Full Names?
JULIET: My names are Juliet Ibrahim Safo.
SPOTIKS: How Did It All Start For You?
JULIET: I had just recently won a beauty pageant and was crowned Miss Queen of Languages in 2004 when I was approached by a friend to audition for an upcoming movie role. I was a bit hesitant at first but he asked me to try out because the production house needed new faces to bring up. I went for the audition and passed; my first lead role was in the movie ‘Crime to Christ’ in 2005 and the rest as they say is history.
SPOTIKS: What Changes Have Occurred Since You Became A Celebrity?
JULIET: Life as a celebrity is like two sides of a coin; unpleasant and pleasant. It is unpleasant because I have no privacy; I live my life in the public eye with everybody trying to have a say in my life and trying to tell me how to live. It is also pleasant because I get to live my dream life and be a role model to so many young people out there.
SPOTIKS: What Are Your Memories Of Your First Acting Role?
JULIET: It was very stressful because I had no prior experience in acting and was set to play a lead role alongside experienced actors. I put in all I had, did my best and I got to learn a whole lot on the set from more experienced actors.
SPOTIKS: Are You Married?
JULIET: Yes I am married and I have a 2year old son.
SPOTIKS: Who Are Your Top 5 Nigerian Music Artists?
JULIET: My top 5 Nigerian musicians are Wizkid, Brymo, M.I, Omawumi and Flavour.
SPOTIKS: What Is the Most Embarrassing Moment of Your Life
JULIET: I was driving in my car the other day in Accra; some kids recognized me and ran to my car happily. In the midst of their joy and whilst banging on my car, I heard them say “it is Jackie Nelson from TV''. I burst into laughter as I drove away. They knew my face but couldn't put a name to the face.
SPOTIKS: Rumour Has It You Are Dropping Your First Single Soon. How true is this?
JULIET: Oh yes! I am dropping my first single soon. Music was my childhood dream, I grew up singing in the choir, I sang soprano back in the day. I just want to fulfill that dream by doing some singing and sharing it with my fans and the rest of the world.
SPOTIKS: What Is The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done Before?
JULIET: It will be when I decided to get down from my car and walk to a newspaper stand to buy a paper by myself thinking and hoping they wouldn't recognize me, unfortunately they did. I ended up giving the vendor the change from the money I had given him for the newspaper.
SPOTIKS: Your Favourite Colour
JULIET: My favorite color will be Gold. I also like every other color.
SPOTIKS: Your Favourite Quote
JULIET: My favorite quote is: do unto others as you want others to do unto you.
SPOTIKS: Is There Any Difference Between Working With Nigerian And Ghanaian Directors?
JULIET: There is not much of a difference working with Nigerian or Ghanaian directors because they are both good at what they do.
SPOTIKS: Most Difficult Role You Had To Portray That Went Against Your Personal Belief?
JULIET: The most difficult will be playing the role of a lesbian in ‘Hidden Fantasy’ and a witch.
SPOTIKS: What Scenes Will You Refuse To Play In A Movie?
JULIET: As an actress I believe diversity is the key to being a great actress, hence I should be able to play any role and act it out and make it as real as it can be.
SPOTIKS: Best Nigerian Actor and Actress you’ve Worked With
JULIET: I will pick Olu Jacobs, Nkem Owoh (Osuofia) and Patience Ozokwor as the best Nigerian Actors and Actress I have had the pleasure to work with.
SPOTIKS: What do you do to stay beautiful? (Beauty tips for female readers)
JULIET: I eat healthy meals; I make sure I do not eat anything heavy or fatty after 6pm to avoid sleeping with food inside my stomach without proper digestion. I also take in a lot of water and fresh juices. I do not smoke and I only drink liquor when I am out in the club and never more than a glass. Alcohol makes people fatter and also affects the kidneys and livers. I am so busy that I hardly have time to work out so once in a while I do sit ups. I will conclude by saying that I am blessed with beauty that runs in my family; in fact my mom is a very beautiful woman.
SPOTIKS: Ultimate Award You Want To Win
JULIET: I want to be on Forbes list of the youngest powerful women in Africa. Every other award is within my reach and I want to be recognized for my great humanitarian works across Africa someday.
SPOTIKS: Best Script you've Ever Gotten For A Movie
JULIET: The best script will be my first personal script I am working on; I’ll be producing it next year. The script writer Patrick Nnamani is a wonderful writer. I still can't believe what he has made out of my story.
SPOTIKS: Message To Your Fans
JULIET: I want to thank my numerous die-hard fans for all their support and love over the years. I promise to never let you down and to always keep doing the things that makes you love and support me more. With the help of my fans and God by my side I see 2013 as the beginning of so many great things for us.
