Twin explosions have rocked Saint Andrews Protestant Church inside the military barracks of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State. 11 people have died and more than 50 others remained injured as confirmed by the military authorities.
How the suicide bombers infiltrated the heavily guarded cantonment baffles me because this is a major training institution for the armed forces and detonated their Improvised Explosive Devices. A source confirmed that a bus entered the barracks and rammed into the wall of St. Andrews Church where it explode and ten minutes later another car blew up right outside the church.
The first bomber was said to have crept into the church as service ended and quickly detonated his IED killing himself and five others. As people rushed out to the scene of the blast a second suicide bomber drove his car to the entrance of the church and detonated a second set of IEDs, killing five more people.
The Northern state Governors Forum described the attacks as cruel and wicked and commiserated with the Nigeria Military over the tragic event.
This is the second bombing this year that has targeted the military barracks of the Nigerian army in Kaduna with the explosions at the 1st mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army back in February.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the blast, it comes two days after the Joint Task Force on Operation Restore Order in Borno State declared the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Ibrahim Shekau, and 19 other top guns of the group wanted.
May the souls of all the departed rest in peace.SPOTIKS will bring you more details as they become available
